AERCT Donates R100 000 towards CHOC’s Community Cancer Awareness

The Afrisun East Rand Community Trust (AERCT) hosted a day of fun on behalf of CHOC on Friday (8 May) at Carnival City, hosting hordes of children who are patients at Johannesburg General and Donald Gordon Hospitals on behalf of the popular charity.

While the day will no doubt remain in the childrens’ memories for years to come, the AERCT ensured that the legacy of the day will live on with a R100 000 donation. The money, donated directly to CHOC, will be put towards community transport and increasing awareness of childhood cancer in Ekhuruleni.

The children spent the day playing in the Magic Company gaming area, taking theme park rides before enjoying the Hannah Montana movie at the Ster Kinekor Theatre, followed by lunch at Wimpy.

Fracois Peenz, CHOC National Director, thanked the AERCT on behalf of CHOC and the children. ‘We at CHOC are thankful that in these difficult economic times, there are still people donating money with an open hand to our organization,’ he said.

AERCT Executive Trustee Sandy Hattingh hopes that the donation will go some way towards easing the burden on children in the Ekhuruleni region suffering from cancer. “The AERCT is happy to contribute towards any cause which raises awareness of this terrible disease and are proud to be able to support CHOC in the excellent work they’re doing in our communities and beyond,” she says.
