Sun International Brings the Spirit of Christmas to Orphans

Carnival City and Afrisun Trust honour the season for giving with the fourth annual Christmas party for approximately 700 underprivileged children.

This year Carnival City CSI and the Afrisun Trust have jointly pledged R130 000 to bring the spirit of the season to life for youngsters aged six to 12 from orphanages in Ekurhuleni.  They were treated to a day of non-stop entertainment at Carnival City on 3 December from 08h00 to 15h00.

The outdoor soccer field on the property was transformed into a fantasy ‘water world’ complete with water slide, castles and boat rides.  The outdoor games and foam offered the children hours of excitement.

Other activities and attractions included face painting and the opportunity to meet and interact with visiting clowns.  Throughout the day each child received fresh fruit juices and waters courtesy of service provider Headline Leisure Management (HLM), and healthy snacks followed by a nutritious lunch, ice-creams and sweets at noon, prepared by Carnival City’s catering company Fedics.

In-house clinic Ikhambi Care was on call to assist with any scrapes and cuts, and the children were to be treated to surprise visits from celebrities throughout the morning.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the much anticipated early visit from Santa and Mrs Clause, appropriately laden with gifts galore.
